Affordable Permanent Housing

It is no secret that affordable housing for low income households helps to prevent homelessness. Conversely, lack of affordable housing:
- quickly erodes disposable income
- reduces access to employment
- compromises health
- prevents social inclusion
- reduces the social and economic fabric of communities
In order to effectively move homeless people along the wheel of housing and supports , adequate, safe, affordable housing must be available. Bringing Lethbridge Home is dedicated to increasing the number of affordable houses available to both renters and home owners. We are also committed to:
- increasing the spectrum of housing choices
- developing guidelines and partnerships to create innovative and affordable housing alternatives
- developing safe and dignified housing neighborhoods for all people to live, learn and grow through advocacy, shared experiences and diversity
- identifying and facilitating the support services and education required to sustain permanent housing
Bringing Lethbridge Home has targeted three main areas of focus for permanent housing for families and individuals who are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. They are Demonstration Projects and include:
Single Resident Occupancy (SRO) Rental accommodation for single people with or without special needs (with and without support services)
- Affordable rental accommodation for families living with a low-income (with or without support services)
- Affordable home ownership for individuals and families living with a low-income
It is our plan, not our dream, to make "home" a reality for fragile families and individuals in our community who might otherwise never be able to exit the painful cycle of homelessness.
