What We Are Doing
Social Housing in Action (SHIA) has a mandate to minimize the impact of homelessness and prevent homelessness in the City of Lethbridge. Through this community based organization and the strategic plan Bringing Lethbridge Home, we have initiated and supported various projects, programs and approaches to create shelter and the ‘right housing’ options and supports in our community.

Emergency Shelters Helping people meet their immediate survival and shelter needs.
Transition Homes Assisting people who are ready to move beyond emergency shelter into a more supported living situation that transitions people to more independent living if appropriate.
Supported Homes Housing and comprehensive support programs that assist people in achieving stability and if appropriate assists people to more permanent and independent living.
Affordable Permanent Housing (rental and ownership) The pathway out of homelessness for individuals and families that have stabilized their lives and simply need affordable housing.
